Exotic holidays to the wonderful island of Bali

by Robert Cornwall

Bali is known as the ultimate island experience. This one place is world renowned for its diverse activities, scenery, culture and atmosphere. If you are thinking about getting away from it all and seeing an exotic land brimming with passion, pleasure, peace and perfection then Bali is the holiday destination for you.

The climate remains usually at warm temperatures of between 70 - 90 degrees Fahrenheit. This is normal for all year long. The seasons are not dramatic at all and Bali holidays are “extreme weather” free. During Bali’s version of winter, the storms come during the night and pass rapidly for the most part.

As if the tropical vistas of fresh fragrant blossoms and white sandy beaches are not enough to gaze upon, there are endless scenic treasures you can thoroughly enjoy on your Bali holidays. Feast your eyes on white water rapids rushing in the form of fast flowing rivers, old temples and palaces, excitingly active volcanoes, unique wildlife amidst lush rainforests, and much more.

If you thought that Bali holidays are going to be the same old song and dance, think again! Here are a few of the things that can excite and inspire you on your Bali holidays: Submarine, marine and wildlife safaris- day, dinner and island cruises- white water rafting, ATV and buggy tours, visit the zoo, play around at the water park, test your skills in paintball war games, Bungy jumping, get your adrenalin going by paragliding, or take part in any of the normal vacation activities like: golf, diving, snorkeling, tennis and more.

The Ritz Carlton is an excellent choice for your Bali holidays. They have a currency exchange right there at the hotel to make your life easier. The amazing accommodations are superb for your fantasy paradise including a secluded cove, private pools, and more.

Accommodations at Oberoi will definitely make you stand up and take notice. Guests can benefit from their own private pools and choose which setting they would like their villa to have a view of. The visual options include the lush tropical gardens filled with fragrant blossoms or the enchanting deep blue sea. Bali holidays can’t get much better than this!

The Legian hotel is one best suited for families as they offer a babysitting service that allows children to enjoy Bali holidays just as much as their parents. Mum and dad can revive their great love affair while the kids discover adventure and magic.

The nightlife in Bali is extraordinary. If you love to party hard at night and travel the exotic scene then there is no place you’d rather spend your holidays. The culture is very different so you can find karaoke, disco and dance clubs, body painting parties, singles bars, pubs with live music that can often times be culturally significant and of course other places offer jazz, reggae and rock.

So, no matter who you are, who you are traveling with, where you are coming from or what you enjoy doing, Bali holidays can provide you with spectacular settings and a vast array of activities for everyone.

Cuba Holidays. Facts and places to see.

by Jose Mauricio Maurette

Thinking of holidays to Cuba? Excellent, this is one island in the Caribbean where you will want to do more than just a beach holiday. The people are bright, self-assertive and handsome. Their cultural heritage is colourful, as are the monuments of their often tumultuous, always fascinating history. A Cuban Holiday is without a doubt one to consider.

These are just some of the facts to consider and places and things you should not miss in your holidays to Cuba.

Cayo Largo: This major beach resort 115 km (71 miles) east of the Isla de Ia Juventud is a favourite destination for SCUBA divers and bird- watchers. Cranes, pelicans, flamingos and bee-hummingbirds abound here along the flats.

Thanks to the warm waters of the Gull Stream and the trade winds (northeast in the summer, southeast in winter), the island’s climate is moderate and stable, sub tropical but less hot than elsewhere in the Caribbean. In Havana, the average temperature hovers around 25C (77F). The dry season lasts from November to mid-May and the rainy season from end-May to October.

Cayo Guillermo: This little coral key of just 13 sq km (5 sq miles) was one of Ernest Hemingway’s favourite fishing destinations and it is still good for marlin and mackerel, notably on boats chartered at the main hotel, Villa CojImar (named after the village near Havana where Hemingway used to keep his boat).

Cayo Romano: The biggest isle of the archipelago, 926 sq km (357 sq miles), is popular with ramblers and nature lovers looking out for wild horses and zebu (wild oxen) roaming its unspoiled interior.

The list of places to visit and things to do goes on and on. The options are immeasurable for your holidays to Cuba. The last advice is to keep researching so that you can enjoy your holidays to the fullest.

Best Safety Tips for Backpackers

by Russell Eaton

People of all ages go backpacking as it provides an ideal way to save money, see the world, and make friends along the way.

Typically, backpackers avoid expensive hotels in city centers, and opt for campsites, hostels, or cheap bed & breakfast hotels. If this is your style (or if you know anybody who might be backpacking) read on as this article will save you money and help make your traveling safer and more enjoyable.

Start by researching the journey properly using well known guidebooks and the Internet. If possible, talk to others who have taken the same journey.

Have two credit cards and keep one aside for emergency use only. Keep the emergency card hidden inside your clothing somewhere so that if your belongings are stolen, you still have your emergency card.

Carry a mobile phone for calling home or for use in the event of an emergency. Failing that, always carry a phone card (e.g. an AT&T card), so that at the very least you can phone home or make an emergency call.

It’s good to email home on a regular basis if you can access an internet cafe. That way, if something happens to you, the folks back home can know where you last traveled and where you were headed.

Always make sure that your travel insurance is up to date and that you have a note of the emergency telephone number should you need to claim insurance.

Avoid taking expensive jewels, watches, rings or other valuables. They attract muggers. Buy a cheap ‘throw-away’ watch for the trip.

Learn about cultural differences in the regions where you will be traveling. For instance, you may be able to wear shorts in Western Europe, but this may cause offence in some other countries of the world.

It is best to always play safe and avoid traveling at night, or walking alone in back streets or remote areas (applies particularly if you are a woman).

Watch out for other backpackers going your way and travel with them if possible. There is usually safety in numbers (and your journey may be more interesting).

A high-pitched attack alarm is always a good thing to have, especially for women.

It’s important to take your own medication with you. If you need regular medication of any sort, do not assume you will be able to get it as you travel. Brand names of medicines can change completely from country to country. And if you don’t speak the same language well, sourcing the medication may be problematic.

Keep your medication in clearly marked containers and carry a separate list of your medical requirements. Also include a letter from your doctor confirming your prescribed medication. This will help to minimize delays at airports and border crossings.

Pack a spare toothbrush and dental floss when backpacking. Dental floss is useful for all sorts of things apart from teeth, such as a temporary broken strap or shoe lace, or to tie items together). Reduce all toiletries, insect repellent, sun lotion etc. to a minimum and replenish your needs as you travel.

As you travel, always be aware of what is going on around you, especially in crowded places, such as markets, airports, busy streets, and stations.

Here’s an easy way to make your backpack thief proof from slashers (thieves who cut through your backpack to steal without your knowledge). Line the inside of your backpack with chicken wire (use a very fine soft mesh which can be attached at key points using needle and thread).

Visitor insurance can even be availed after you commence upon your travel venture. Visitors insurance is of great importance in the USA. The doctor out there refuses to even check or examine the patient if you do not have the visitor medical insurance.

The visitor medical insurance is of two types, i.e. comprehensive plans and fixed plans. These plans cover outpatient doctor office visit, cover-in patient hospital, surgery and recommended drug expenses. The US department of health specifies the need to have visitor health insurance for USA.

These plans also include intensive care, hospital room, diagnostics, X-rays, tests and so on. Prescribed drugs, dental expenses, emergency medical procedures, accidental death as well as dismemberment are also covered in these insurance plans.

Visitor health insurance also proves to be very handy if you need to cancel your journey due to valid reasons supported by your policy. Reasons like death, accidents or weather conditions are supported by most policies. In such cases the plan makes certain necessary payments and covers your expenses. So it is advisable that you apply for a visitors insurance well in advance.

However you need to pay some money when you apply for a particular plan depending on the conditions of your plan. After this your plan takes care of the remaining payments. But each plan takes care of a certain fixed amount and if your expenses cross this amount then you need to pay that amount from your own pocket.

Visitor insurance reduces the threat of not being able to operate the person under any sort of medical urgency.
